Award presentation

For the inaugural edition of the award, the jury selected Kourtney Roy’s The Other End of the Rainbow, published by André Frère Éditions, as the winner on 19th October 2023.

Over a period of more than two years, Roy travelled through British Columbia along Highway 16, where Indigenous women and girls have been disappearing or found dead for decades. During her journey, she met numerous victims’ families and loved ones, whose testimonies feature prominently in the book, bearing witness to the violence, misogyny and pervasive racism that underpin these tragedies.
